Thioglycollate Medium
Thioglycollate media is used for cultivation of anaerobic, micro-aerophilic and aerobic microorganisms and for sterility testing procedures. No paraffin or special seal is necessary, nor is a anaerobic jar required for the cultivation of anaerobes. The reducing components Thioglycollate and Cystine ensure adequate anaerobiosis even in the case of fastidious anaerobes. It is well buffered so that acide or alkalin inocula produce negligible alteration in the reaction of the medium. This culture medium is used for the cultivation of Clostridium species and also used for the Blood culture Media.
Cultuer media within 24 – 48 hours incubation at 35 – 37ᵒc.
Storange and shelf-life :
Store dry and keep tightly closed, store at 15-25ᵒc protect from light and the prepared medium at 2 – 8ᵒc.
